[edit]She is already a super-centenarian (110-119 years,) but do you think she will live to be a mega-centenarian (120-129 years)?? (See the talk page of super-centenarian.)
Honestly, probably not. People who get the title of "Oldest person in the world" don't usually hold it for more than 2 of 3 years, tops - 5 years is really pushing it. →Raul654 00:45, Mar 18, 2004 (UTC)
While her family keeps me up to date on her health, this really isn't a place I'd care to discuss it.She has beaten the odds many times thus far but we can't tell how long she will continue doing it. Once again,I regard the coined term "mega-centenarian" (which implies 100 million years old!) to be quite foolish.None of my colleagues in the study of supercentenarians ever use it.--Louis Epstein/12.144.5.2/le@put.com
Well, what other term do you have?? "Super super centenarian" is certainly silly because it is wordy. "Duo centenarian" properly means 102. Please also note that the mega that this is identical to on purpose is the MEGA COMBO from the Atomica game at http://www.popcap.com, NOT the SI prefix for a milion. 66.32.70.244 01:48, 8 May 2004 (UTC)
On the other hand, there are those of us who plan to be true mega-cenetarians :) →Raul654 01:49, May 8, 2004 (UTC)
- I'm sorry I haven't made this clear enough on the other talk page,if I haven't.At the present time I think it inappropriate to divide the category "supercentenarian",which should be used for all ages from 110 upwards without limit. The death rate in this age bracket is so extreme that those who survive an additional decade will be extremely few for years to come."Quasquicentenarian" (125),"Sesquicentenarian" (150),and other terms await the currently nonexistent need for them.Should the international scientific community studying supercentenarians agree on any other terms I will know about it,since I compile the standard list of documented supercentenarians.I am quite certain that a computer game will not be used as a basis for the terminology, especially if it indulges in casual misuse of SI prefixes.
- Raul,I've come up with a system of naming numbers that we'd need a whole new set of physical laws to live that long counting any unit of time!...but I don't plan on dying.--Louis E./User:12.144.5.2/le@put.com
Charlotte's death
[edit]I knew she had been hospitalized lately and it didn't look good...I just heard from my family contact that she died this evening.--L.E./12.144.5.2/le@put.com
Obituaries have now hit the wires with a few details. Will probably link one later.--L.E.
