ye recently exclaimed only being called “ye” and that the name “kanye west” was a slave name. my thinking is that spotify and apple music are gonna refer to him as ye now instead of kanye west which brings up the question wether or not the article name should be called “Ye (musician)” or something like that instead of “Kanye West” Purpetic (talk) 20:11, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Purpetic and Muboshgu: I've noticed that Ye's artist moniker on platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube is still Kanye West, and his latest 2024 albums were released as Kanye West. So Ye is his legal name and Kanye West is still is artist moniker? Israell (talk) 18:14, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ye should be referred to as "Ye". i've read through the talkpage archives and the arguments used to prevent moving this to its correct title are unpersuasive, especially WP:DEADNAME. the policy in the black community is that one should not "call someone out of their name", and i don't see any real reason to leave this page at its current title, but that's just my two cents. i will likely make a move request unless anyone can provide a persuasive reason to leave it at this title. Daddyelectrolux (talk) 20:52, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Daddyelectrolux, considering that there have been four unsuccessful requested moves within the past three years, each with essentially the same rationale, such a request could be viewed as disruptive. I don't see WP:DEADNAME used as an argument in the discussions but rather WP:COMMONNAME, which dictates that Wikipedia use the name that is most commonly used (as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable, English-language sources) for the article title. That is policy. Unless you intend to refute that "Kanye West" is his COMMONNAME per that policy, the chances of a successful move appear slim. Throast{{ping}} me! "One of the most prominent figures in hip hop" this is not correct it should look more like this "One of the most prominent and influential figures in modern popular music" 87.116.182.147 (talk) 10:19, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The name of Kanye West's father, Ray West, does not appear in the infobox. Only his mother appears. I suggest, therefore, that you add Ray West to the infobox under the relation of father. Jnotl (talk) 14:56, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As per Wikipedia policy, this should only be included if the article's subject (Kanye West) has one father who is either independently notable or particularly relevant - can you prove one of those? MadGuy7023 (talk) 20:09, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure what you're implying. Notable people's fathers often have their own short biographies featured in early life sections. To prove notability, you'd have to demonstrate that Ray West meets WP:GNG. Throast{{ping}} me! (talk | contribs) 08:00, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Relevant to two readers. Read MadGuy7023's reply again. Parents are added to the infobox if they are "independently notable" (i.e. meet GNG) or are "particularly relevant". A quote from the early life section isn't enough to establish either. Throast{{ping}} me! (talk | contribs) 10:39, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
At the end of the 'Follow God' music video posted by Kanye, he declares his father his 'Best Friend.' I'm just a dummy, but I would think Kanye's Best friend and father would be relevant. Auggets (talk) 11:56, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So I've noticed something recently. The first sentence is "Ye (born Kanye Omari West) is a . . ." but when hovered over on a link, the first sentence shows as "Ye is a . ." which I find confusing. I think we should add after parenthesis "Ye, more commonly known as Kanye West" or "Ye, formerly Kanye West, is a" or something like that. DualSkream (talk) 12:23, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to add more info to the 2003–2006: The College Dropout and Late Registration section, about his car accident, the metal plate in his chin, and through the wire, JimmyDogfishThe2nd (talk) 21:04, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In the lead, there is this paragraph:
“West has also released the collaborative albums Watch the Throne (2011) with Jay-Z, Kids See Ghosts (2018) with Kid Cudi, and Vultures 1 and Vultures 2 (2024) with Ty Dolla Sign. ”
I’d like to request to change the bolded ‘and’ with ‘as well as’, since the double ‘and’ makes the sentence unwieldy.
