As you can see by my user contributions page, I haven't edited in a number of months. It's nice to see that a few of my ideas have taken off, however, two factors have largely contributed to a great deal of frustration with this project, thus I am making my last edit for an indefinite amount of time.

  1. The complete ignorance of a small number of contributors. (Rest assured that I mean a very small number of the contributors that participate in Wikipedia, and if you're here reading this, you likely aren't one of them.) It's both very disappointing and frustrating to see repeated instances of people not RTFA before removing a link or content. I do realize that I could likely replace the old content (which is why I classify my departure as an indefinite and not permanent one), but I'd rather take some more time to chill out. Plus...
  2. I don't feel like licensing anything under the GFDL anymore. I volunteered my time to write articles so that other people can place ads galore around them and profit? That doesn't make sense to me. If I do this for nothing, I expect others to be mirroring the content for nothing. I can live with ads if they're an absolute necessity to keep these servers online and if they are removed at a break-even point, but it's blantantly obvious by the search engine optimization and text ads that they see a get-rich-quick scheme in exploiting the contributions of hard-working people who do this for nothing.

Aside from this, however, the experience has been nothing but positive. Au revoir. -- Rdash (t) 14:51, Dec 14, 2004 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:CKNDCurrentLogo.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:CKNDCurrentLogo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 21:23, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Rdash! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 3 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

File source problem with File:CIVICurrentLogo.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:CIVICurrentLogo.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:16, 14 February 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 18:16, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Non-Free rationale for File:JRDigsonJRDIGS.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:JRDigsonJRDIGS.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under Non-Free content criteria but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a Non-Free rationale.

If you have uploaded other Non-Free media, consider checking that you have specified the Non-Free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. A tag has been placed on It's a Living (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
  • disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
