Hagiography
[edit]This sounds more like hagiography than something one would expect to read in an Encyclopedia. RodC 23:00, 7 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- It was also a probable copyright violation from [1]. I've reverted to the version before that was added. Angela. 23:13, Mar 7, 2004 (UTC)
- Now restored. It was a contrib by the author of that webpage, as suggested by the username of the contributor. Verified by email, Oct 11, 2004 : "Confirmed, it was contributed by me and was GFDL's[sic] with my consent..." As for the laudatory tone, someone please take it down a few notches. +sj+ 00:37, 12 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Not easy, as the article would have to be rewritten from scratch. It's tone is that of a newspaper feature - which it is -, not an encyclopedia article. I really don't know about the subject, so, for now, I've just corrected the titles' capitalization style... RodC 20:42, 23 Nov 2004 (UTC)

A conversation between Alan Kay and Danny Hillis was published in the second year of Wired Magazine at [2], which sheds light on his thinking and approach to modeling complexity / cybernetics.

A better article available
[edit]There is a much better referenced article at http://longnow.org/people/board/danny0/full/ that seems to follow the biography of living person standards and is published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. I tried to put it in place instead of the what is there now, but it got reverted because this was my first try at updating an article, it was a large change, and I don't understand some of the subtleties like date formatting, etc. I will probably give up on updating this article and try something simpler for my first edit, but someone who knows how to do this better may want to try replacing the current article with from the one referenced above. It comes much closer to meeting the Wikipedia standards than what is there now.
Promotional concerns
[edit]Mean as custard recently tagged this article as reading like an advertisement, which is not an concern I currently share to any meaningful degree. I'm wondering if there are particular passages that led to this assessment. Thanks. —jameslucas ▄▄▄ ▄ ▄▄▄ ▄▄▄ ▄ 20:03, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
positions in summary out of date
[edit]Hi, this is Danny Hillis, so I cannot edit this article, but I did notice a minor error: some of my previous medical positions at USC is listed as current. I suggest they be moved down to the section describing my work with proteomics.
fixed
[edit]Thanks, summary is now fixed.
