Both computer games and video games are listed here, following the lead set by list of computer and video games. -Sean Curtin 02:58, 3 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Catagorizing
[edit]I think we need to standardize how we catagorize games. I vote it should be:
- Company, genres, themes (if applicable)
- Series
Where Series is simply a grouping of similar games (Like Category:Final Fantasy) which can be catagorized in the same way as 1. If it's categorized by series, it wouldn't need any other category, obviously.
I also say we should get rid of the categories Arcade games and Console games. About 90% of games ever made were on a console, or at least ported to one. Oberiko 10:13, 15 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- More like 50%. Anyways, one of the main reasons for instituting categories was to eliminate the need for massive lists like the ones sorted by platform at list of computer and video games. -Sean Curtin 20:59, 15 Jun 2004 (UTC)
I was working on categorys: (computer and video games by):Company, platform, year, genre.
Naming
[edit]Moved to: Wikipedia:WikiProject Computer and Video Games/Definition dispute
:Would everyone prefer the new naming issue be taken up here or on the above page?BcRIPster 14:06, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
February 2007 CVG->VG naming discussions on CfD: Cat:CVG root page Cat:CVG umbrella. BcRIPster 17:51, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
Miscellaneous entries
[edit]There seem to be a number of games listed in this category. As best I understand it, these games should be categorized by genre, date, etc. I'm going to be placing these games in these categories to clean up this top category "directory" a little. --BradBeattie 15:22, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
Need to remove project and category info boxes from this page!
[edit]The infoboxes are already on the portal page, which links to here anyway. The infoboxes distract from the main content of this page which is the subcategories and articles. -- Sitearm | Talk 03:02, 2005 August 23 (UTC)
- I agree. It's look really ugly on the page. Keep it in the discussion. -- Dangeorous-Boy
New category: Launch titles?
[edit]I think it would be helpful to have a list of "Launch titles" (category name pending) to indicate all games that were released simultaneously (but not after) the launch of console. For example, Halo for the Xbox, Pilotwings for the N64, SSX for the PS2. We already have a list so this could be easy. My only concern is how do we differentiate US vs. European or Japanese launch titles? This merits further discussion. The-bus 17:44, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
New category: Video game classifications?
[edit]I think that for trying to reduce the number of categories in this category it could be created another category "Category:Video games classifications" in this category to put together in this new category the categories: Video games by company/platform/region/year/..., Video games with expansion packs/historical settings, Video game compilations/franchises/remakes/sequels/prequels/spin-offs/stubs, Unauthorized video games, Cancelled video games and all the categories that contain video games.
I think it would be better than the current organization because in this way it will be a separation between the categories that contain videogames and the categories which contain other things related to videogames, like music, character, hardware, developers, etc. I'm sorry for my English because I'm spanish, but I hope all of you can understand me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.103.0.39 (talk) 22:15, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Ha!
[edit]It has only one article now... Isn't this a milestone for the English Wikipedia? Eh..
Also I would like Category:Video gaming (a category for the content related to the games) available in more languages. QuantumFoam66 (talk) 23:53, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
