[edit]Response to "is this true?" in the history page.
Yes, the Trotskyist past is true, as is Jospin having lied about it. See these pieces from the [BBC], [BusinessWeek], and [The Times of London].
Also, if you can read French, the French Wikipedia article on Jospin covers this topic as well.
I welcome efforts to integrate this information better into the article, but I thought its length was too great and would take up too much space in the main article.
Another problem is there's no page for the OIC in English Wikipedia, thought there is in French.
- I linked to the PT (the current incarnation of the OIC). David.Monniaux 08:42, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Finally, any thoughts on whether these sources should be somehow cited / linked in the article? LeoO3 06:27, 7 Mar 2005 (UTC)
I tried to NPOV the point about Jospin's Trotskite past (especially the speculation that the French public may be more tolerant of politicians' lies and dubious past than other countries such as the US etc.). As everybody knows, the end of the 60's and the early 70's were an era of considerable political experimentation. Many of today's mainstream politicians were in radical groups, and many later feld duly ashamed of some of their actions back then. David.Monniaux 08:42, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)
This article is not very NPOV... The bit about Madelin regarding his past may appear amusing, as his name cannot be mentioned without someone making a reference to this (cf his treatment on wikipedia). Jospin was simply luckier.
A mention of the absence of ministers from the ethnic minorities in Jospin's government has been deleted----Clive Sweeting
Quotes around dictatorship of the proletariat
[edit]I have edited out the quotes around the term dictatorship of the proletariat. I see no real reason why they should be there? It is a more or less accepted Marxist term and Jospin claims to have been a Marxist/Trotskyist. -CasualEditor 03:19, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
Mireille Jospin
[edit]Should his mother Mireille be noted?
Stoned
[edit]Shouldn't the Bir-zait incident be mentioned here, i mean its not every day that you see a french MP chased around by angry colledge students

about unemployement
[edit]Article says :"During his term, with the help of a favorable economic situation, unemployment fell by 900,000"
Actually, there are debates about the role played by Jospin's politics in this favorable economic situation (the fact it helped french growth). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.210.147.64 (talk) 21:37, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
French Reformed or Atheist ?
[edit]Other sources and I think Wikipedia itself show him as an atheist. He´s definetely from French Reformed origin, but he still follows that faith ?81.193.215.37 (talk) 03:47, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
- I'm reasonably sure that he does not. 137.122.30.88 (talk) 18:15, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
He does not practice any faith but remains very faithful to his Huguenot origins[1] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.140.20.72 (talk) 08:30, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
After 2002
[edit]"although he briefly campaigned for the 2007 party nomination in the autumn of 2006."
This sentence is ambiguous. Everybody said that Jospin was willing to make a comeback, but Jospin himself never cleary said that. The only thing he ever said is that he could assume the charge if ever the French PS asked him. He has never campaigned for party nomination, not even briefly. He voted and then he helped the Segolene Royale team, that's all. Boarekd 00:10, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
No ethnic minorities
[edit]"There were several women but no members of ethnic minorities in Jospin's government."
I've been looking for other prime ministers and didn't find sentences like that. Usually, it's worth mentionned when there is ethnic minorities but not when there isn't. This kind of sentences just seem to imply he's a racist.loelaor 22:55 16 august 2008 (utc)
The first question i'd like to answer is why Lionel Jospin had not been elected President in 2002, i believe in universal suffrage like the most representative vote, after tens of years that french people complaining about unemployment, he was the only who introduce an onest social and modern program, he proposed the presidentiel mandate to five years.I suppose that instead he was susceptible he was not obliged to run pursuing hares. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.103.161.255 (talk) 22:11, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
Listy
[edit]The "Prime Minister" section contains an enormous list of bullet-pointed reforms. This is against house style and really needs rewriting into a structured, discursive format.Gymnophoria (talk) 13:44, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
There is an RfC on the question of using "Religion: None" vs. "Religion: None (atheist)" in the infobox on this and other similar pages.
The RfC is at Template talk:Infobox person#RfC: Religion infobox entries for individuals that have no religion.
Please help us determine consensus on this issue. --Guy Macon (talk) 05:19, 24 April 2015 (UTC)
